A Peaceful Place

Well, it's been so long since i wrote a post about interiors, seems like fashion has taken all of my energy, yes? Today as i was running to catch my meetings, i had a small gap between two of them and boy i spent all of my time reading in a cosy coffee shop a beautiful interior magazine, so here i am now all inspired to share with you!

The more i tend to read international press - and by international i mean European, American, Australian, sure is international -  the more i realize that the way we used to dress our homes has trully changed. Think of it, it's only ten years ago and we used to spend thousands of euros to create over-stuffed places with anything we could afford. Somehow everything had to be a lot. Today people try to let their homes breath, small empty spaces that create a peaceful corner are super desirable and if i am allowed to say we not only have started to dress low key, but live low key / which brings me to a total joy! It is so obvious that what really counts is not the quantity but the quality and this goes to everything really. It is about time to get rid of everything 'cheap' and ugly we do not need and we still carry with us, metaphorically this could affect even a relationship but here i speak of the way we dress our homes and ourselves. So, next time you are ready to pick something, wait a minute and ask yourself: does this product really worth the price? Does this company respect the consumer? Or am i buying it cause it's one cheap bullshit? Just saying...

Enjoy you day,
Love, K.

Hollywood Beauty

Located in West Hollywood this beautiful building has everything a person could ask. First of all an amazingly modern facade and when you look at it you know you have to put your hand deep into your bank account yes? Well, no! This building is La Brea project, a place which with a combination of private and public funding is offering low cost apartments to LGBT youth and people with disabilities and HIV-AIDS. It is the work of two architects, Patrick Tighe and John V. Mutlow and i believe the whole project is just amazing, inside and out! Watching efforts like this make me realize for one more time what architecture can be about, it is not only about the zillion dollar fancy villas around the world but also a human centered science.
I would like to see your opinion about it.

Enjoy your day
Love, K.

Trancoso Brazil Home

When it comes to 'summer' houses, I'm always excited to see how people who are living in warm climate countries design and decorate their homes. Most of the times these places have a strong color palette and look very relaxed, you can dream of the lazy afternoons and wonderful dinner parties...
This Brazilian house belongs to designer Sig Bergamin and his friend Murilo Lomas.
There is a rich combination of style, color and texture all around but for me it is the tropical ambiance of the house i envy a lot.
Vintage pieces sit well next to furniture from Bali or Africa. Add the pool - there is always a pool - and there you have it all.
That's it! I'm going to have a caipirinha...

The Tree House

When architect Thomas Gluck decided to build this house for him and his family the fact that he already knew the land gave him a kick start.

The house was completed in 2012 and it really looks like a piece of art into the forest. '' Accessing the view and creating a living experience up in the treetops became the generator for the whole project. It's really the experience of being in a tree house. Looking northwards to the mountains , i would say that you can see 32 or 40 kilometers on a clear day and the money shot is the big view. But the trees are around  you on the other three sides, so when you look out you see the trees swaying in the wind'' says the owner.

It is about contemporary and visionary architecture.

Nikos Valsamakis

Nikos Valsamakis is the most important Greek architect and one of my most beloved.

His work has the gift of perfection and he represents the mid-century design.
It is really difficult to speak about the work of a man that i admire so much so i prefer to let the photos speak for their own.

You will find more about Nikos Valsamakis here and here

Love, K.
