Monday Love

This summer is the most amazing i have lived during the years! I mean i had so many fascinating projects running by the same time that even though sometimes i had to keep myself not to crush down, it was the most exciting and productive period of my life!

First of all i feel so blessed with all the support i have form friends, family and people around, cocoandsilk grows slowly but steadily and it was such a huge success to manage and open our first shop! 220 CONCEPT STORE ATHENS is a place that welcomes our collection but also the amazing work of greek designers - i will make another post about this - and it is the most inspiring place to visit!

Also, i am super excited about an upcoming trip to Copenhagen later this week, i think it has been ages since i traveled for the last time. I am not very pleased with the weather report, but since it is only a small interval it is fine with me. I am just crazy about Greek summer and i can't wait to have my summer vacation / still not too close though!

Time

It really feels strange when it's been so long since I wrote a new post, blogging is something that needs dedication and a very sharp daily schedule, something impossible for me... :( ... for now....

My daily plans keep on changing every half an hour and I am sorry to admit I am not at all pleased but it is something I must learn to live with it!

Aside from my problems due to lack of time, life runs so fast I can barely follow, not good! Time has a different value for every one of us and I never, but never can remember myself having enough....Which reminds me how much i have to run to be ready for this winter and the next summer!

My Friday - Without Doubt (?)

Whenever comes to a great photo i see, a wonderful work of creative people who give their (more than) best to get a beautiful result, aside from deeply admiring it, i always wonder if they had moments in their lives that felt really down, asking themselves about the quality of their work and how they fought these cruel periods.

Lately i live in a creative fever but the more i need to create the more i have doubts about my work. Creative process is often painful and hard, completely the opposite of what most of the people imagine. My friends always say how lucky i am to work and make a living from this job (let me smile ironically here) but i know it is not completely true...there is almost nothing glamorous or exciting but hard/hard work and endless days and nights of stress and self doubting!

I do not regret about what i am doing because i do it with passion and it is an inner need that pushes me to keep on working when everything seem to be against and i know this is the price everyone has to pay when living in the planet of creatives and freelancers. And finally this is the reason i respect every beautiful image that i happen to see in a magazine, a blog or anywhere else. Cause i know a lot of people worked truly, really hard so me and thousands of others can now enjoy the beauty of what they produced.

My Friday - Great Team Work

Yesterday i had a unique experience working with a really great team in a magical place!

It all went smoothly and easily, smiling faces all around, people who loved what they were doing and giving their best selves, something i am  most grateful for!

To me is a priority to listen what my team has to say and work with them with no limitations and rules so we can all move one step forward. Being able to work with gifted people and share a vision, or a plan or ''speak the same language'', this my friends is a true gift and i am so happy i had the chance to work like this!

So before the campaign will go public, i would like to say a huge thank you  to all the people who believed in me, put an effort and supported cocoandsilk, i have no words!

A Step Away From Great Things To Happen

Wow! It has been almost a week since i posted here, i know no excuses but boy! a lot have come on my shoulders...

This period is like the last days of a pregnancy, big news are about to come but the labour is not over yet! I work very hard to put things together but when a 'box' is closed i find another one has been opened, you know what i mean!

I wish i could say something more but i have to keep my mouth shut till everything will be ready!

So anyway, as things are running nothing makes me happier than the fact that spring is already here, soft sweet rain and a higher temperature makes me want to go out and smell the fresh air, see my friends for a coffee break and most of all i am sooooo excited for an upcoming trip at the end of next month, i can't really wait! I guess small escapes from everyday routine is one of the biggest luxuries in life...

See you on Friday and till then think spring!

Take A Walk Downtown.... Athens

What happens when a city is living under the pressure of a heavy social and financial crisis? 

Sometimes it becomes a live art gallery with people, buildings and everything else becoming pieces of this gallery. 

I was always in love with the hard urban face of the city but as time walks along i discover myself getting more and more excited with this place, to me Athens is an endless source of inspiration, the more it becomes wounded the more beautiful she turns, the more i get in love with it!

Two days ago i was so fed up with work i just had to go for a walk outside, just to breath some air and watch the people...i am a passionate human watcher! It was a beautiful late noon and the air was warm and kind to us, i could swear spring was here for good! I guess it was not the best hour to get the right pictures but i love this blue/grey decadent light so i really couldn't care less about the tone of it. 

Sometimes you  don't need to run away to see things in a different view, sometimes all we have to do is open our souls to everything that is next to us and let it speak to our heart.

Athens you are my eternal lover!

My Friday - Love

These days are all about a very close person of mine and some serious health problems.

Many times i have considered myself so blessed for all the things i have lived, all the moments i have shared, all the happy days that are yet to come. And above all i now that the most important thing of all is to love and to be loved, cause otherwise nothing really matters....

My Friday - This Can Better, Or Not?

Today we are working on cocoandsilk summer collection, photoshooting...all afternoon and probably till night.

When you work on something you have invested so much soul and passion, you are always very stressful about the final result. I strongly trust my people but can't stop wondering... are we going to manage and pass the message, what this new collection is about and if a single photograph can capture the philosophy behind each piece? Truth is, it can't... Is this disappointing? Hell yes, but we have to be practical, no one can spend a whole day just to get one pic, unless you are a heavy brand!

Small fashion brands are fighting with uncounted difficulties to survive, retailers are tough, fabric factories and dealers do not give you a normal price unless you stock fabric for the next two decades, magazines are asking half your life to make a small commend about your work and almost no one  really pays any attention to what you are trying to do till the moment you become ''someone''...

Then you can ask, why any rational human being will decide to work for fashion? 

I guess there is only one answer....cause it's passion, something that you love to do every day, no matter all the difficulties and no matter the risk.

Escape To Art

This last weekend was a madness.

I had to work from early day till very late and not under the best environment. 

Thanks to my good luck, my partner and a very good friend of mine, I was escaping every night - after finishing work - to the land of art, it was the perfect brain clearance after a terrible day!

So many times i have spoken about art and how important is to everyone of us, art is healing, it is a strong medicine for our brain and our soul and an endless source of inspiration and power.

This week is going to be pretty busy also, not to complain, i am going to have a small trip in the middle of the month and i am so happy about it. Although it is a business trip, i really need some days away from my always beloved Athens!

February came with the best of intentions, an amazing day in Athens, looks like spring is already here... so i wish you a wonderful month and let it be an artful one!

My Friday - Weekend Is For Shopping And More...

Ever since i've started working in fashion the only thing that sleeps  in peace is my wallet.

Firstly i have to think a lot before i spend a penny as money are not easy coming and for every collection i see my budget getting paler and paler, on the other hand being all day between fabrics, designs and clothing makes me (in my days off) looking for the comfort of my old loose jeans. Add (to all previous written) a literally zero time to go out and have fun and you get the pic.

Shopping used to be one of my biggest pleasures and somehow still is when and if  i have the chance to do it. Of course i am very lucky cause i have all the pieces of every collection in my closet so no more panic attacks like.... ''i've got nothing to wear!!!''

Anyway this time i found some astonishingly beautiful pieces like ones i've never tried before but you get braver as you get older! So maybe and i only say maybe this weekend i am going to invest on something different, not a cocoandsilk piece, but very cocoandsilk friendly, ha ha! 

Now, aside from all the fashion blah, blah, the most important for all of us is to share all our precious weekends with the people we love and are really important to us, and this has no price!

Work, Work, Work....

As winter is coming with not the best of intentions, i am so happy that my summer collection is finally ready and all the samples are going to be on public, first during Athens Fashion and Trade Show - coming later this month -  and after that on a private fashion show for which i am super thrilled!

This year is going to be very special for cocoandsilk and this makes me more than happy!

On the other hand, work never ends -  thank God - so two more projects are on the way together with next winter's collection, a trip to Paris for Premier Vision and a scheduled photo-shoot...this is one of  my favourite parts, he he!

I don't like to talk about things before they are done so enough for me to say, better stop writing and  start working again!
